Election Day Countdown

Election 2020

Ok, there are 72 days left before America goes to the polls again to elect it’s leader for the next 4 years.

The 2020 Democratic National Convention has just concluded (Mon. Aug 17-20, 2020 – Thurs Aug 20, 2020) and the Republican National Convention is set to begin tomorrow night, (Mon, Aug 24, 2020 – Thu, Aug 27, 2020) Yey America!

For the past three years America has been polarized. On the one side, the President’s side, is the extreme right, oops my bad, I mean the alt-right, and one the other side is everyone else; the middle of the road American to the left leaning and everyone in between.

The way the Trump administration has positioned itself, American’s have been unable to find a common middle ground. One is either for the wall or against it. For DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or for putting children in cages, For BLM (Black Lives Matter) or against it. There seems to be to room for negotiation. It feels as if we are in the midst of a civil war. Trump’s Authoritarianism has pitted Americans against each other. From his use of the National Guard to beat up peaceful protesters in front of the White House, to his gestapo henchmen, law enforcement with no visible shields or distinguishing markings, bashing protesters or those perceived to be protesters. His stance on protecting, as heroes, those that fought against America in favor of the confederacy.

What is the unspoken issue here? I, as a citizen and not a public figure, can call it for what it is, the fear of the BROWNING OF AMERICA. It is nothing new,  White Supremacist have veered their ugly heads onto the National Political Arena several times before in the past. The fact of the matter is that the demographic trends seem to indicate that so-called racial minorities will out number Whites within a few generations, and those White Supremacist fear that their progenies will no longer be on top of the heap; that white privilege would be a thing of the past; that the words embodied in the The Declaration of Independence may actually come to pass…

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

Just because Caucasian’s have been in a race since the beginning of time to rule the planet. Even at the expense of killing and maiming even their own, and the cycle of life is about to come full circle, does not mean that people of color (or as they classify them Negroids and Mongoloids) will do to them what they have done to them. That notion is preposterous. Just as the notion that all Caucasoid’s (white people) are hate mongering White Supremacist. That is where the problem lies. It is called FEAR. Fear of losing control, fear of the unknown, fear of cultures that are different from there own.

Racism is a learned behavior. People are born full of love and compassion. Hate and prejudice are passed on from one generation to the next. Studies with toddlers of difference cultures and races demonstrate that children will actually play and interact with one another with absolutely no malice toward one another.

The younger generations are becoming more color blind with each passing generation. It has always existed, but became more prevalent in the 1960’s. As a direct result, in today’s world inter-racial couples are common place. America even elected a biracial President. Music seems to have been the great equalizer.  The advent of the digital or information age has made the world smaller and brought cultures closer to one another. Unfortunately, for some of us old fogies change is rather difficult.

The most resent issue, prompting the birth of the alt-right and White Supremacist resurgence, was the election of the first biracial (Black) President, Barrack H. Obama. It was because of Obama’s election that Trump initiated the so-called birther movement, which gave birth to the Tea Party Movement, which gave birth to the Alt-Right.

On November 3, 2020 American’s have the opportunity to repudiate hate and to begin healing the hurt inflicted by Trump and his minions. There is no perfect candidate but anyone that moves this nation away from hatred and toward acceptance is better than the current leader.

Unfortunately there is no one on the Republican ticket for people to choose from. There was not Republican primary, so come November there is only Donald Trump. The only real choices in November are Status quo Trump/Pence (more of the same and possibly worst) or Biden/Harris.

On November 3, 2020 American’s have a choice once again to elect the person that will lead the nation for the next 4 years.

They can choose Vanilla…

Or they can choose variety.
