And you thought you knew everything about back links

There is always someone talking about a new way to build links. The sad thing about these folks is that they never talk about a basic truth in link building, and that is a concept called On Page SEO (On Page Search Engine Optimization). The reason may be because On Page SEO is not as sexy as talking about some new fangled system for link building.

Do not misunderstand me here. Off page SEO and link building are crucial for getting high PR and generating traffic, I’m just saying that there are other ways to do the same with On Page SEO strategies and tactics that can be easily implemented and are at your control.

Most people do not know how simple On Page SEO really is so they seek the advice of a so-called SEO guru. This is understandable, it’s because they simply were never taught about proper SEO.

Additionally, many people spend most of their time making their websites or blogs look very pretty at the expense of simple SEO. However, having a beautiful website is really worthless if it does not drive traffic.

The thing to understand is that On Page SEO is very powerful stuff. With On Page SEO done right, within a couple weeks your site or blog can rank top 5 for your keyword(s). Link Juice Pumping

Link Juice Pumping in simple terms means getting backlinks for your backlinks. It is a common, yet advanced on-page white-hat SEO strategy also known as PageRank flow or link structuring.

In case you are not familiar with the concept of pagerank, that is just Google’s way of determining the value of a site and it’s content.

While there is some debate about how accurate pagerank number’s really are, the unrefutable fact is that the higher pagerank a page has, the higher its rankings.

Internal Pagerank flow

Another concept one should become familiar with is Internal Pagerank flow. This is a process where you point links to pages within your site that you are aiming to increase search engine rankings for. For example, say you have a product on your site that is searched for in Google more then other products on your site. What you may want to do is add more links across all the pages in your site to the product that is being searched for most by simply using the product’s keyword search phrase as anchor text.

For example Product Name. This startegy is most often employed sitewide in the footer of all very well search engine optimized sites. You’ll want to also build internal keyword targeted links like this to the “money” pages on your sites.

Many times by simply changing the internal pagerank flow on your site is enough to jump your search engine ranking for a term 1-3 places very quickly.

If you follow these two basic On Page SEO strategies, and add more pages to your site you will notice a significant difference. (The more pages you have on your site, the more boosting power you’ll have).
